> > I'm not sure why Chiaki was worried about leaving fingerprints; they're gonna find out she was behind the break-out pretty fast. I assume her plan is to release more villains that will force Beth's team to actually focus on capturing villains rather than terrorize the planet. > Re: Fingerprints:  Why make it easy for them to figure it out?  If there are no fingerprints it's possible the release is just a bad coincidence, or maybe someone set up the timing to catch her in the crossfire. Except when they discover she physically sliced a cable, which they'll find pretty quick when they try to run a diagnostic. So we have a sliced cable when she was the only one in the room, and then she bolted like a bat out of hell. If they don't have her pinned as guilty right off the bat she would at least be taken into custody as the prime suspect. > There is a variety of reasons Chiaki did that.  The sudden release of villains will keep the relatively green "New Lair Legion" busy.  It also creates the possibility that formerly imprisoned metahumans will try to kill some of Beth's pets that they have a grudge against.  More on that in a moment though. > There's also the chance that they'll kill prison guards during their escape, kill civilians, kill the police officers who are the first to respond...there's a lot of killing in their way before Beth's Legion could even respond. > > Of course, the Baroness could still be recruiting and Chiaki may have just released a lot of prospects. Or Beth ignores them and they get to run rampant over the city/country/planet. Or Kerry's Legion take them on and get killed. And/or a lot of innocents get killed no matter how this goes down. > > Maybe Beth will try to recruit them, but some of them just aren't stable enough or recruitable.  > And the final part I forwarded you from above to read:  Innocents or no, the biggest point is that Chiaki is trying to create major public dissatisfaction with Beth's takeover.  It's like, since the day she took over, criminals are running rampant in the streets, and the New Lair Legion are jerks, and even JJJ agrees that things are worse than when the old Lair Legion was in town. > It's enough to cause protests and riots. > So Chiaki's plan is actively trying to plunge the city into chaos. I think playing a waiting game would have been a lot smarter, keeping tabs on Beth and waiting for her to step out of line. > > All in all, I don't think I'd make her tactical adviser on the Legion if she ever joined. > > Fortunately Chiaki rejects the idea of joining.  She doesn't like being tied to any organization that might govern her behavior. > Considering she just released a whole bunch of supervillains in an attempt to create anarchy to make someone look bad, I think her behaviour might need to be governed. ~Hat~ | |||||||
