I think you covered Hatman's reactions pretty well here so I don't think I need to elaborate further; the statement "we can't punish someone for something they may do" sums it up.

So Hatty's not one of the "time-travel back and kill Hitler as a baby" crowd. But there's still a few decisions he has to make:

How much of the Chronicler's assertion does he pass on to the LL? To the governments of the world?

Who makes the call about Danny's future? Hatty? LL vote? SPUD? The UN?

Is Danny allowed to wake up and speak in his own defence?

Who explains all this to Kerry, and how? Who pays for the damage afterwards?

What if the Chronicler seeks to sanction Danny? Will the LL defend him?

What if the Chronicler seeks to remove the Nexus from Earth, leaving Earth vulnerable to dying in sub-plots, robbing it of its destiny? Would the LL battle to stop the Chronicler?
