I think they ultimately added a few things that didn't quite work (the mini-sun experiment, and the engagement for MJ, but both were replacements for things that didn't work in the original script, so it was at worst a push in those regards. And on the whole, they strengthened a lot of what was here.
> It sounds like the original draft spends waaaaaaay too much time on the character of Doc Ock, and makes changes in him that are wholly unnecessary or outright silly (having him date MJ being the biggest laugher).

The whole dating MJ thing definitely wasn't working, and felt like a way to shoehorn MJ into the story. In reading it, it didn't feel like an inordinate amount of time was spent on Ock... The scenes were close to equal, there was just no "Trillium" or any of that to deal with, it was all about the arms instead. In some ways, that worked better, but the cliffs notes version of the arms worked fine in the movie. Overall, I find myself more sympathetic to the character in this script's second act, and yet less sympathetic at the end... so I think the movie did a better job overall.
One difference in terms of screentime is definitely with JJJ... he had multiple extra scenes in the script, including one where Spidey snags him up to the roof of the Bugle and they have it out with each other.
