The writing about them shouldn't be, though. It probably reflects how confused I got in multiple redrafts.

I don't think she really was part of the final fight so much as caught up in it at the wrong moment. But I reasoned that once she was there she'd not just run away. In fact it was her idea that defeated the villain.
