> > > If Dr. Trenchcoat is a maquette now, who's the artist?  And is it Manga styled?
> > Liu Xi was just speculating what the Shoggoth might do to a massively powerful psychic entity that interferes with his video watching.
> Probably tasted like octopus sushi with orange juice, fuchia, and last sunday.

His favourite.

> > > I wonder if Vincent will be so clumsy with speech - and possibly coffee - if Liu Xi visits his shop?  She would actually see him as friendly enough to visit now, though she might stay out of reach if he's still so grabby.
> > He's only grabby when he thinks he's going to die or is on the adrenalin rush after not dying.
> That implies it would be every time Liu Xi visits, though that's another kind of adrenalin rush.

That's not an adrenaline rush. It's an embarrassment rush.

> As a side note, I'm sure Liu Xi is also curious what exactly attracts him to her - whether it's the person or the power he likes.

It's the person. Vinny's grown up with powerful sorcerers and sorceresses all around him. He's not intimidated by power, but he's not attracted to it either. The most he'd do is casually note a neat trick, in the same way as an everyday person might say "nice catch."

> > And Liu Xi would be welcome in Vinny's alcove, although as you say there may be an element of clumsy mess-making.
> Hopefully he won't break something expensive or would cause him to lose his security deposit.

There's nothing at Altos that's worth that much.

> > > Good job mentioning his late rent, though.  Liu Xi may just accidentally complain to someone about it who can help.  Like the Psychic Samurai, or maybe Visionary or Sir Mumphrey.
> > Vinny can pay his rent now he's done the job. As he'd explain to Liu Xi, it's very important to him to be able to make it on his own without dipping into his trust fund.
> Even so Chiaki is just the kind of person who might cause a sudden reduction in Vinny's rent somehow.  Or at least cause his landlord to offer a very, very liberal payment plan.

Alto has resisted pressure from protection rackets and the like due to his underworld connections - not the criminal underworld either. Chiaki would probably sense that the easiest way to secretly help out Vinnie would be to point some paying custimers his way.

> Dancer can do that too, only using more questionable methods.

What's questionable about being unremittingly nice to people?
