Subj: Well, dead guys can't be threatened.Posted: Sat Sep 29, 2007 at 03:00:16 pm EDT

> Man, you have an odd way of winding down after the big epics. Not that I'm complaining, mind you... There happens to be loads of fun within this sprawling chapter. Also loads of deadly threats and cosmically dangerous people...
|
This story does seem to have spiralled out of control somewhat.
> So there's a conspiracy against us? By the evil grand high muckity-muck types of the universe? That doesn't sound good. Especially with all of 4 Legionnaires left for the field team. Assuming some of them survive the prison breaks, that is.

The big baddie hasn't even showed up yet.
> You know, between the whole Caphan slavery thing, the damaged heart stuff, and the sheer number of times I've been swallowed by it (or, conversely, had to swallow it instead), I have to come to the conclusion that it's probably not healthy mentally or physically to have that close of a relationship to a Shoggoth. And then there's the whole Angry Elder Gods Who Want To Kill Us Both, which probably doesn't happen as often to people who keep a more casual acquaintance with Shoggoths. Not that I'm complaining about being swallowed again, if it's going to save me from Nyarlurkhotep. And being swallowed by a rotting gelid biomass is at least a somewhat new experience... Here's hoping Shoggy gets better and gives up on that eternal lying thing.
|
Ah, maybe I should have made clear the difference between being swallowed up inside the biomass of the Shoggoth and being eaten and digested. This time it's the latter.
Hope that helps clarify things.
> So... you went and made her the new Shaper, eh? A good (and scary) choice. Plus, the big revelation at the end of the scene... That Hood does get around, doesn't he? I don't know what he saw in that woman, frankly. Although the Bebe Neuwirth reference helps in that regard...

I decided that Symmetry had the most to bring to the table without it interfering in anybody else's backstories.
> I enjoyed the Epitome debriefing scene, and the implications for what it will all mean for the future. That's a large number of villains. Of course, if any of them were being kept in the prisons until the pardons went through, well...
|
Some of them like the Widget might have a chance of going straight.
> Okay, so the Avawarriors were bad news, but they've been proven beatable more than once. The Doomwraiths are a different level... That's not the kind of thing one should keep around, as the prison break proves. What's more, that had to be an impressive amount of security to override in order to let it free. Our villainous duo are certainly connected.
|
Really, once one has shut up a doomwraith in a box what does one do with him next?
Mr Skinner and Mr Flay are indeed well connected.
> Some great action scenes with Hatty, CSFB and the Baroness... Hopefully they can hold their own against the Doomwraith as well, at least with Donar's help. That's quite the last minute smiting opportunity for him. And let's hope that Mumphrey has a few more tricks up his sleeve in regards to surviving the second break-out.
|
We'll be pitching Yuki and EPitome into the Safe to help out too.
> And I enjoyed the groundwork being laid for the quest in time and the mystery to unravel...
|
Ah, that would be the Da Visionary Code plotline, if we ever get to it.
> Lots of fun stuff. I look forward to the next bit, and to finding what's happened to our heroines....
