Previous Post Liu Xi probably won't feel all that awkward at having been turned down.  It was a huge risk offering it, but to her the risk was worth it.  Offer to marry Hatty and have his kids or watch him vanish from her world forever?  It was definitely worth the risk to her, even if she had to risk offending him and lose him as a friend.  At least if he was really that lonely, she know she could have made him happy and kept him from fleeing. Meanwhile she'll be happy she's still friends with him, and that he didn't leave, even at the price of her own embarrassment. What I should have included in the writer's notes is this is one of the steps Liu Xi has taken to stop being afraid of everything.

Well, as Hat stated, she couldn't necessarily make him happy.  If he was just looking for a placeholder or trophy wife he could probably get that easily.
