There can't be many more provocative acts than kidnapping Mags and Griffin. As others have noted, you have a really tight window before everybody from the Destroyer of Tales to Oldman to EEE to SPUD get involved, with Dancer probably bothering Galactivac about it too.

That said, I thought the real drama of the story actually came from the Yuki/Chiaki clash. I sense a growing schism there with both of them being absolutely true to their characters and inevitably disagreeing. This could be a pretty interesting angle.
