Luck ‘o the Legion - Part Two

Kara Harper took a long slurp on her green slurpee. Her green boob-tube and hot pants outfit with high-top thigh boots may or may not have been something she inherited from her mother, however the small leprechaun hat that sat atop her head left no doubt she was dressed for the occasion. A shock of hot-pink dyed hair fell down over the left side of her face, giving her a rock-star style that was only enhanced by the various frat-boys crowding around her in an obvious state of admiration.

Cody Harper looked across the bar at his sister and sighed. He was dressed in white board shorts, red t-shirt, and flip-flops, and looked more suited to the beach than the bar. His own blonde hair sticking out at all angles as if he was just electrocuted though apparently he’d styled it this way himself.

Kara noticed his sigh and gave him a wink, turning to the frat-boys and saying loud enough so that Cody could hear “Boys, which one of you will be kind enough to get me another slurpee?”

There was a gush of wind as the frat-boys scattered in their eagerness to please to head to the nearest slurpee machine. Kara gave a smug look of satisfaction as they did so.

Cody rolled his eyes. “You gave them some future-type bliss drug to zone them into you?” he asked.

Kara frowned. “Cody – don’t do drugs ok!”

Cody rolled his eyes again and pondered “You promised to do their Maths homework?”

Kara giggled. “No, but that’s not a bad idea.”

“Oh please.” Cody remonstrated, “Are you going to tell me how you have them all following you like puppies or not?”

Kara smiled. “Nope, you have to guess” she teased her brother.

Just then Kerry and Danny walked past.

“Oh Kerry, Danny, heya!” Kara greeted.

“’sup?” Cody mumbled.

“We’re not here underage” Danny denied.

“Are you here with your dad?” Kerry queried.

“Dad’s here? Bummer” Kara slumped back into her stool. But then she brightened. “Actually that may not be a bad thing.” She turned back to Kerry and Danny. “Samantha told me earlier about the run-in you all had with the Dean. If you like I can ask dad to have a word with him? Apparently the University Executive are all big fans of his.”

“I think they’re just fans of his money.” Cody injected. “And the fact that he’s funding their new Advanced Physics Laboratory.”

“Yeah well, money talks” Kara suggested.

Kerry shook her head. “Thanks Kara, but no. This is a battle we have to fight ourselves.” Her eyes flashed. “And I look forward to it.”

Just then there was a loud crash from across the bar. “Have at thee then son of a wombat devil!” The familiar tones of Harlagaz’s voice boomed across the music.

“Here we go” Cody brightened, as the four young students headed over to see what was going on.
