Subj: My solution to the OMG GAYS IN MY COMICS!!!111eleventy-one controversy: Posted: Fri Dec 07, 2007 at 02:27:05 pm EST (Viewed 340 times)
I hereby propose that every character in superhero comic books be made bisexual in canon. That way, all the fans could have the versions of the characters that they want, without it contradicting the continuity of anyone else's versions of those characters, and everyone would be happy! We could even publish separate titles for each segment of the audience, so that the fans who want their heroes to remain strictly heterosexual can read about (just as one example) a happily married Superman and Lois Lane in one title, while the homosexual fans who would like to see themselves reflected in their heroes can have their own titles, in which Superman and Batman are seeing each other (with Lois' permission, so that it wouldn't be "cheating" on her, since I can't help but think she might want to watch Clark and Bruce together), or Supergirl and Batgirl can have upbeat (and possibly even all-ages) same-sex dating hi-jinks. Hell, you could even expand the line with titles to cater to straight guys who want to see sexy lesbians hooking up (the XXX-rated adventures of Wonder Woman on Paradise Island), while straight girls who want pr0n of yaoi boys can get their fill as well (Superboy and Robin's hawt love affair, possibly rendered hentai manga-style). None of the titles would contradict each other outright, but they'd also be self-contained enough that readers who only wanted to read about their own versions of the characters wouldn't have to acknowledge the existence of any other versions. But for those who do follow all the titles, we could have annual crossovers, which would bring together all the different versions of those heroes in the same title, and call it, "CRISIS OF INFINITE SEXUAL PREFERENCES!!!"
