The Hood seeks a way to overcome that limitation. If humans can learn to survive in adverse environments like vacuum then other journeys into other hostile places should be possible.

The shift in physics would prevent the weird science SF hardware from operating, so prostheics, robotics, or programming more advanced than what we have on our own Earth would no longer function. Likewise extraordinary materials like vibratium used in circuitry to allow super-enhanced performance would no longer exist.

Effectively that means that sentient robots would be at best dormant and at worst destroyed.

If I ever get round to the storyline I'm sure there would be a range of reactions from those affected, from the perplexed and bereaved to those who are effectively addicted to their powers suffering withdrawal. It would be particularly hard for those whose usual perceptions are informed by their abilities, who effectively lose one of their senses.

For example, Dancer would really have problems keeping her hair untangled.
