Subj: Sloppy work - they need to envelop part of the leg as well. Or use molten metal, it lasts longer.

Reply Subj: Eventually the ankle joints give way and leave the concrete blocks behind.

    Quote:
Tom's rather more cynical and world-weary than Vinnie. Even if Liu Xi didn't have a secret agenda he'd assume she had. And if she didn't then he'd think her naive and seek to exploit her.

Will he still feel that way after she curses at him in Chinese?

    Quote:
Part of the difficulty Tom has - and the reason he's something of a tragic villain - is his inability to recognise or accept such help.

Refer to the question above.

    Quote:
He'd be even warier of Chiaki, in part because of the "psychic" bit (he's from the intelligence community which is all aout secrets) and partly because she definitely would have an agenda, however benevolent.

And from what you said above, someone to be wary of is exactly what Tom needs. He might not be so worried about the "psychic" part once he sees that she has quite a few of her own secrets, and seems to be really good at keeping them.

Often times, Chiaki's agenda is remarkably simple. When she had that talk with Gamona, her only agenda was to develop a sort of friendship with one of the best assassins in the galaxy - that could come in handy someday. She would likely have a similar goal with Tom Black. It's not a goal that would harm him in the least, and that's central to Chiaki's plans - the person or people involved are more likely to go along if it costs them nothing.

    Quote:
The secret of survival for a lot of folks is to stay out of it as long as possible and avoid taking a side as much as possible.

Frankie's been around through a lot because of it.

    Quote:
It's win-win for Klein. More metahuman interference in GMY shores up her anti-meta stance and wins her votes - and in turn justifies harsher responses.

The irony to that is none of them (Yuki, Chiaki, or Sir Mumphrey) are metas. Yuki knows her rules of abuse and would likely skirt them by beating her with the least powerful people she can manage.

      Quote:
Actually that could be an amazing good-cop-bad-cop routine, between Yuki and Chiaki. Chiaki just patiently asks questions while Yuki "accidentally" smashes the entire office one piece at a time. Yuki crashes in through the outside wall, while somehow Chiaki has an appointment and strolls right past the body guards and secretary.

    Quote:
As always with Klein, the problem is that she's not the top dog she appears to be.

And being a detective, that's exactly the kind of information she would smash out of Klein's office.
