It looks like Hatman and Vinnie are starting to figure out what's going on, and not falling for what is probably an illusion. But is it method or experience?
I don't always work it out conciously. After a while it's just the way the characters lead as I write them. One of the reasons for doing a long narrative featuring the new Legionnaires was so I'd start to develop that instinct for writing them and get their voices in my head.
Quote: Ever notice in my stories that Lara Night always manages to find her way through illusions? In her case it's method more than experience. Any time she wakes up somewhere and can't remember how she got there or why, she starts looking for faults - things that are impossible, or make no sense, etc. Back home she had to deal with a lot of weird metaphysical stuff, so she had to learn to discipline herself and always try to separate reality from...unreality.
An in-story summary of Lara's pre-Parodyverse exploits would be good sometime.
Quote: In Vinnie's case, it looks like he has the same discipline. He's carefully analyzing his surroundings, and checking to see if there's something wrong about the way people are reacting, or how he got there, etc.
It's Vinnie's job to deal with odd realities.
Quote: Hatman, on the other hand, seems to be operating more out of experience, which is why he took a much shorter time - like he recognized something he'd seen before quite a few times.
Hatman just doesn't do deals with baddies, even for "good" reasons.
