You actually got it right - the whole story is circular, just like the circle of life, and it deals with the nature of death. So if she's a goddess of nature, she could be a goddess of death. Also she works as a REPO agent, which makes it even more funny.

Then there's the spooky part of anyone who's given a taste of "Eden" to become obsessed with going back there even if it costs them their lives.
