We've seen Yuki vs the Machine Shop before, though. It was time for something new. And as you see from part 6, Yuki's busy with trouble of her own.

She might feel the prison was too easy, though - for now, at least, until they try and pick on her at home. Of course, there, she has a ghost, a god, and an android who all hate intruders.

It was a pretty remarkable escape, really. I hope i didn't make it seem too easy for brevity's sake. I was trying to show how good Yuki is at this stuff, not how bad prison security was.

Well technically since Jay didn't agree any contract with the Word no debt exists. However, it's clear that Gideon Book has specific reasons for wanting Jay in the role rather than, say, the person he had Pelopia murder to retrieve the Serious Matter from. More on that later, of course.

    Quote:
The question now is whether it's something Book knows will happen anyway, or something he'll force Hat into. The distinction might be who's willing or able to help him, or if he needs help. For instance Faite would be more likely to help him (though being her way, probably subtly) if he's being forced into it.

The Word is working towards exploiting the fact that CSFB! is still alive and unbalancing chaos and order. Hatman is the avatar of Order and traditionally the foe of the champion of Chaos. Wacky hi-jinks to ensue!

    Quote:
Actually that side note about Faite, it's because when she took this journey to understand and bond with people, I sort of had the perception that she's going to have to choose whether to help a friend who's scheduled to die, even though it will mean a lot of peripheral corrective work to make it possible - in other words, an emotional decision rather than a logical one. Hat's a good possibility if somehow the new Serious Matter infusion was set to kill him quickly. She doesn't particularly care if she annoys Gideon Book - there's probably a long list of ways she annoys him already.

I'm steering clear of Faite's subplots because they'd be so easy to disrupt and because I'm not that comfortable with uber-characters interfering to help out everyday heroes from general plot situations.

He didn't. In fact he's going to be the Training Officer for the team newbies, the role that Yuki occupied before she was bumped to deputy.

    Quote:
Yuki is definitely going to make fun of him for that. In a good-natured way.

Noted.

Klein's going to be unhappy enough about recent events in GMY. But now he sponsor's back things are starting to snowball. And there's a Mayoral election due before too long as well.

    Quote:
Getting arrested or raided before an election isn't going to help her chances. Then again, she might be running against Harry Flask, which would make things interesting at least.

Klein was Flask's chosen candidate.
