He could "appear" to be. But he'd be working out how to get out of whatever it is she's trying to get him to do. He wouldn't blindly do something wrong or harmful without knowing how he can fix it first. I think.

I think there are several UTT issues with that very scenario (just not with Beth as the instigator).

But hey, knock yourself out if you have a good story idea and run with it - we'll sort it all out in the wash.
