I wanted to give Griffin a moment where he just didn't stand there like a passive idiot and listen to Kambyon ramble, but I also didn't want a scene where the child outwits the adult. So this was the compromise.

He's a villain, and as such entitled to be a hypocrite.

I liked the idea of a kid who wants to be a "monster" meeting an actual "monster", which is why I set the story up to lead to this particular conversation. Originally it was going to be a lot longer, but I reigned myself in.
