> “Why are you doing this?” Kerry Shepherdson demanded to know of the secret benefactor of the Junior Lair Legion, a.k.a. the New Lair Legion. “All of this stuff gives us the edge over the … other Legion, but they’ve got the government’s seal of approval, and you’re –”

“A non-confrontational industrialist whose business relies upon maintaining cooperative relationships with that same government,” Mr. Gideon Book anticipated Kerry’s objection.

“Something like that,” Kerry admitted, peeved at his ability to peg her so placidly.

Somehow I'm guessing that's not exactly how Kerry would have phrased things, so she shouldn't be overly peeved. ;\-\)

An interesting set of interactions. I'm curious as to where things may go from this. I suppose I can see a certain logic to it, as the video game that I'm making has a plotline about an industrialist who supplies both sides of the civil war to further attrition in both armies, all in preparation of the day when he can march in with his own forces and take over the country. I'm not sure how it could play out here, but then I'm guessing that Book guy put a lot more thought into it than I have.
