Reply Subj: One emergency after the other. And then I read this story.

> So they're going to use Mr. Li to find the Lair Legion. Unfortunately finding them doesn't solve the problem of how to bring them back.

They're going to use Mr Li to try find the Lair Legion. Or at least their underwear.

> Sorry I didn't write anything about Liu Xi yet - I misunderstood. I purposely left that out of my last post because I thought you wanted to do that. Sadly it might be a few days before I start writing again, as I've had a crisis of sorts I'll mention in a moment.

Well, I might drop you a scene I had in mind if you'd like something to build on, but it'll have to wait 24 hours or so.

> Looks like Chiaki has things mostly under control. I'm not sure if that'll help the public courts decide not to indict her and sentence her to death, but maybe it'll impress Hatman. Maybe.

I wanted to show both her dedication to following through what she started and some of the less fortunate consequences.

> If the portal of pretentiousness is back, and Amnesia is there too, I already can guess what the price will be. Prepare for the return of the Hooded Hood...and this time he's pissed!

If or when the Hood comes back, people will eventually have reason to know it.

> By the way, I think Danny is joking about ruling the world. Kerry would never allow it.

Possibly not. it depends on how cross she's feeling just then.

> I hate to be the one to say it, but the New Lair Legion (not the Juniors, the other one) isn't terribly powerful.

I disagree with this one. The Purveyors are the most dangerous supervillain group out there, as I hope to illustrate as we reach the climax of the story arc.

For example:
Dr Roentgen can discharge radiation over wide areas, kill people with it, then raise them as rad-zombies by the hundreds if not the thousands. He can also cause nuclear-level detonations. Since he's living radiation now he's very hard to actualy harm or kill.

Gromm the Living Flatulence is the last of six primal Deviates, equal and opposite beings to the Austernals. He is sentient gas, able to poison, explode, sear, and dissolve tissue over an area the size of a city block. He can get anywhere gas can.

Anvil Man is the Parodyverse's Juggernaut, an unstoppable armoured tank with massive strength. Additionally he can detonate any object in his line of sight. He's shielded from psionics, energy attacks, physical force, magic, damn near everything, which makes him a very difficult opponent to stop.

Clonar has all the physical power of Donar, which means he's damn near invulnerable and one of the strongest beings around. And that's before he summons storms.

Razor Ballerina can cut through almost anything, including concepts like magic or probability strings. When she spins she can generate razor-sharp psionic blades that hurtle off and slice through whatever they meet. She's psychotic sadistic insane after being tortured into what she is now over a year as captive and pet project of one of the Hood's former minions.

Grit the Granulated Man and do pretty much anything Marvel's Sandman can do, including hurricane sandstorms and sledgehammer assaults.

HAGGIE can do pretty much anything Hallie can do (albeit not with as much flair) and is still wearing the "strong suit" she stole off Hallie during the Parody War - with some upgrades.

But really the point isn't just that some of them are powerful. They're also professional - experienced, trained, disciplined, organised, and for the most part able to work co-operatively as a team for their sinister goals. They're meant to be the perfect counterpart to oppose the LL, so that means I have to write them as smart and deadly as I can.

> Ironically, Chiaki worked hard to make the Baronness look bad, and it might end up being Lara who makes the New Legion look like chimps upon her return to Earth. Not necessarily because she's terribly better, but she's used to playing in the original Lair Legion's weight class and is more experienced.

I think if you try to show Lara "punking" the Purveyors you might have some readership credibility issues. Better to put her up against one of the targets Lisa suggested where she can have a good tough fight without tripping up the main thrust of where our main plot is heading.

> I might not get much writing done until this weekend, and even that'll be limited with a trip to Florida coming up next Wednesday. I'll be healing, psycholoigcally and maybe physically, from an incident that involves an eye doctor, a specialist, and possible laser or conventional surgery. I won't know the conclusion until tomorrow is over (and I won't post about it until the dialation eye drops start to wear off).

I hope that your recovery is swift.
