Way back when DK was an active, regular poster he decided to take his Dark Knight character away from its Batman roots and m ove him more into Crow territory. He was interesting in eventually establishing that versions of DK had existed throughout history, in various iterations.
I tried to play to that by having DK do the half-dead vigilante routine in Untold Tales. It's a shame Greg himself never finished the stuff he started off with the outing of DK and the conflict with the King of Stories.
Anyhow, the Midnight Avenger thing was me throwing a little bone to that concept and establishing yet another possible Dark Knight incarnation.
