With all the other Legionnaires willing to back up Hatman - and he can't simply sneak in, since Liu Xi would recognize him - wouldn't it be a wiser action to carve a niche for himself instead of trying to steal the Hat's life?

He doesn't want to steal Hatman's life, he wants to ruin it before he kills him. The fact he has Hatman's face just gives him some advantages, and probably some disadvantages too.

As to Liu Xi, how would you she tell them apart?
