Given some of the "professionally" published drek I have ploughed through I doubt that I "get bored easily". And I do mean drek - A friend lent me a copy of "A Woman in Space", which is hilarious, provided you don't read it as a serious science fiction story.
You have to bear in mind that styles vary dramatically and no-one will read (or like) everything. On the TV side I acknowledge that X-Files and one of two of the CSI variants are very good, but I can't stand them - to the extent that I have been known to leave the room when they are on. This has been alleviated since I found a good set of noise-cancelling headphones.
