> > It's pretty obvious that the majority of people who were on this board even a month ago have stopped reading it entirely. Even Ian's mini-post previewing a 2008 event has barely been replied to compared to his usual posts, and mine average 3-4 replies - the normal for World Class, not PV stories. Therefore I'm posting this survey. Of course, like a tree falling in a deserted forest, if nobody's around to read it, I guess it doesn't really exist.

Closure, mostly. Because people like me won't leave because the board is "dead enough". I'll probably be the one to turn out the lights and lock up one day.

> I think the parodyverse needs a reboot. Not an "Ultimate" esque reboot (don't worry, CSFB ;\-\) , but a refresher for those who've forgotten the old characters and don't know the new characters.

That's partly why with the Parody War, Ian had the Lair Legion pared down to a few core characters. It's easier to remember and deal with, and figure out where everyone is and what they do. I've been introducing a few new characters at a time as take-it-or-leave-it.

That's what I hope too, but the survey is supposed to gauge everyone else's thoughts on the subject.

> Is this an attack on the kind of writing CSFB produces? If so, it's also an attack on the writing I produced. My writing was as violent as he was sexual. One thing I always liked about the PVB is it didn't try and censor itself like other sites. Posters who use four-letter words in their prose have just as much right to post here as posters who are squeaky-clean.

It's not an attack, it's a possible reason among many. I'm not that sensitive, but there's always at least one out there who is, and is usually silent about it. I'm not going to censor posts for one or two people, but I would like to know just how many it's effecting.

It's (b) I'm more interested in if you care to elaborate. Sadly I can't do much about (a).

> If you take your work seriously, you shouldn't be surfing non-work related websites when you're being paid to do a job!

Everyone has some idle time at work eventually, which is why those are two separate items. The first, obviously, means you're physically unable to visit this site from work. The second implies you're too scared for your job to be caught visiting this site - not because you're prohibited from web surfing but because you won't want to be caught at this particular one.

> > c) My work records every site/email and it's not worth being fired over.
> > d) Not safe for work content on the board - I don't want to get fired.
>
> See above!

Once again, separate items. These two options involve being afraid because of content, not location. Like you'd have no problem visiting CNN, Myspace, Livejournal, etc from work, but the PVB is too risky.

> > e) Not safe for work content on the board - I have kids and don't want them to see it.
>
> Oh well. Then show your kids only the PG stories. Active posters who produce writing shouldn't have their work censored on the behalf of the children of other posters.

This was a longshot option I added for people who may have, for instance, installed some kind of net-nanny software or are afraid to bookmark this site because the kids might find it and it's too much for them. In other words, people who won't visit because visiting might leave a trail the kids can follow.

> These options seem a bit angry. The reason I don't post much anymore is multi-faceted. First, work keeps me busy, I've outgrown my character and yes it's been so long I not only have no clue what's going on in the parodyverse, I don't even remember my own character's status.

Usually if there's a reason people aren't replying it *is* an angry reason. \:\) I guess the closest option to yours would be (b) and (c)?

Besides, you'd be surprised how often people do creative things like write for the PVB, and then something happens in their life like they get a decent paying job, get married, or have a kid, and then it becomes "time to throw away childish things and grow up".

> This question could have been compounded into the previous one. Like I said, I'm busy with work, I've outgrown my character and most of my poster-friends (DK, Finny, Nats, GE, spiffy) have long moved on.

I forgot to add that option - "all my friends are gone" etc.

> My last reply that didn't post was a bit more elaborate and put together better, but this is the gist of how I feel.

Okay.
