I think instead of the word "overdramatic" I'd use "detailed and passionate".

I am a bit burdened with work and other responsibilities just now, at a time I'd expected to be somewhat less busy. I apologise for that impacting on my capacity to write for the PVB. The two unexpected factors were a key staff member's sickness and an invitation to interview to be MD of a company that runs security services for the police.

I heard last night that I wasn't being offered that post, and I've never been so relieved not to be offered a job. It wasn't a role I would have particularly relished, but the pay and perks were sufficiently high that I'd have felt obliged to take it anyway.

I hope to get round to the writing part of my life as soon as things calm down a bit.
