Looking at some earlier pieces, I couldn't leave well enough alone and started working over a few of them.

This first Hallie piece was based on an old Poser image of her... I pretty much repainted her head, and changed her outfit but kept the pose:



Just did a few little tweaks on Magweed:



I found a Velcro Vixen image that I did that needed some major adjusting. Still does, but she's not a high enough priority to work out the rest of her.

Loving these touch ups. The evolution of your artwork over the years has been really good to see (albeit only a snapshot via your PV work here from time to time, and the occasional IW book cover).

We'll see... I turned to tweaking some artwork because my brain was not cooperating when it came to writing a new story, and that kind of thing is just relaxing busy-work to me... like doing one of those adult coloring books, I'd imagine.

I just didn't think that I worked out all of the issues with the original, so I posted what I had done to that point. "Version 3" would be perfected piece, ideally, but really at that point I should just start a new one instead of working on a compromised foundation.




She came out a bit more Anime/Younger than I'd ideally go (shades of what I've been working on most recently, I'd guess), but I like her anyway and always enjoy drawing her.

That she was shifted to be in a white gown probably has nothing to do with any hinted upcoming story elements, I'm sure...

Those are some nice paintings. Velcro Vixen looks complete to me as do the other two.

A big problem I used to have back in the day was working on files with big enough resolution to do any detail work, because my computer could barely run Photoshop. As a result, all of my old PV work is really low res, so reworking any of it requires blowing it up and repainting a good deal of it.

Ah, that. It's most likely a simple size difference between the posted version and the work version... I work on them in a higher resolution. Alternatively, it could be another case where I saved things out because I was about to make a change and wanted to be able to revert to a mid-point in case I didn't like where that one led.

Really, I'm awful at keeping clean file names.




She is probably my favorite of my PV characters, I admit.

They do run in the blood-line as we've just found out.

It's fun to see how Cinematic Cap followed the same choices made for Epitome's look, especially the disconnected cowl, following the first "Avengers" film.

Probably true, if she's not spending too much time in online rants about the bad decisions made in "Suicide Squad"...




When I first read this response, I thought that the new UTT must be up (it wasn't then, it is now.). Then I realized that you meant that triplets run in the blood-line...

As for these three, they are musically inclined aquatic monsters (I think they even have antennae in their natural forms), so it would be fitting if they were descended from Banjooooo.




Not sure where the right places might be, but I mostly drew it to plug the film so more. Said film is now up for many critics and academy awards, so clearly my efforts paid off!




I'd accuse him of being in the 1%, but considering the current board population he's really like 15-20% of it no matter how we draw the lines.

Ultimate Universe Cap may not have been my favorite iteration of the character, but the costume he wore in World War 2 (which was the inspiration for Epitome's look) was very slick.

I don't think I've ever seen an episode of the show, but there is no denying the characters are designed to be quite appealing visually, especially when interpreted by a talented artist.

The show itself is probably of limited interest to most... there are definitely much more sophisticated cartoons with greater general appeal to older audiences. I just got into it watching it with my little cousin as something we could bond over, and I came to admire the approach it took in creating the concepts and characters.

It also for whatever odd reason just became a focal point for all sorts of creative people online. A lot of older fans treat it like Kurt Busiek treated simplistic 60's comics with Marvels and Astro City… taking the challenge of finding an angle to it that stays true to the source and yet adds some complexity.

In general though, I just met a lot of nice people online who just figured this was as good as anything to have some fun with and bond over.

No doubt. It's one of the few designs from the entire Ultimate Universe that I recall liking.

Sure, I wish they weren't ponies, but that's just me.

In truth - great work. Love the big dragon. And the inn scene tells a wonderful story in and of itself! Who needs words.
