Word is that Ian's home internet is unavailable, and will be until Monday, Jan 4th at the earliest. Until then, he will be unable to post new chapters or read and reply to other people's work and comments.

I hope that folks have a safe and happy New Year's Eve, and that 2016 brings good things for everyone!

Al B. Harper with best wishes for 2016 to all.

A few days ago, flooding inundated my ISP's server bank and took out pretty much their whole cover of the north of England and all of Scotland. Apparently there was some kind of knock-on effect with software that took an inordinate amount of time to reconnect. The upshot was my inability to send or receive e-mails or to access the internet.

I've now got patchy intermittent connection, but only by reverting to my antique 15-year old modem which seems better able to handle fuzzing signals than my shiny new 2015 one. My ISP and I are engaged in ongoing dialogue regarding my requirements and expectations.

Meanwhile, UT#351 is written, sans epilogues that I think I need to add in. It is a bit longer than a "standard" chapter, which in turn are about 70% longer than what I used to call an "average" chapter. This one's about a sixth of a novel long. I'll proofread it and complete the end bits in the next couple of days and, ISP willing, get it up by midweek. Apologies for the delay.

Indeed. Proceed.

My ISP decided it was a good idea to place their main servers on a flood plain, however.

With the promise of an epic wrapup, of course we'll wait; weeks if need be.

Best wishes for a happy, prosperous and healthy New Year too you and the whole Board.

I've had contact from a couple of people who, by Chinese whispers, were convinced that I was trapped on the top floor of a flooded house as the waters rose to my neck and sharks closed in. The worst I can say is that I haven't been able to offer snarky replies on the internet for a few days.

Fortunately my flooded ISP provider was kind enough to allow me to vent my snark on them. The exception was the tearful and harrassed tech-desk lady from the day before yesterday, whom I comforted and had a nice chat with about how much she wanted a new job.
