Mid-Town Goth Haven. iLOCE world headquarters. iLOCE is one of the premiere computer security companies. They keep 45% of the home computers & 65% of the government's computers safe from harm or that's what they tell people. iLOCE is actually the cover organization for the techno-cult known only by it's acronym E.C.O.L.I. who sells the info they gather from those using their products to whom ever can pay their prices. E.C.O.L.I. is headed by the mysterious person who is only known as The Patriarch. He was seated in his darkened office talking with head of the Research & Development department Doctor Heniz Mangalur. "So… what do you have to show me today?" "Well, Mein Patriarch. As you know we down in R&D have recently been working on a number of animal hybrids." "Yes. Of course I know that. I approved the project." Patriarch said with a hint of anger to his voice. "Yes. Yes, Mein Patriarch. We have just finished are latest animal." "It had better be better then those Merfrogs you brought in a few weeks ago." Patriarch said with a bit more anger remembering when Mangalur brought in those creatures. "Yes. Yes, Mein Patriarch. I promise that I have a much better animal for you this time." "You did dispose of those Merfrogs like I asked you to?" "Yes. Yes, Mein Patriarch. I disposed of them." What Mangalur didn't say was his "disposal" was to release them into Off-Central Park. "Ok. What have you brought me today?" "Arachnequine!" Mangalur said with some glee as a few men in white lab coats brought in a creature. The creature was pitch black in color & had various harnesses on it. The Patriarch just sat there for a few moments, not saying anything. "Well, Mien Patriarch? What do you think?" Mangalur asked. "I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking at." "It's an Arachnequine." "ok. And that's what?" He said as he stood up from his desk & came over to look at the pitch black creature. "To put it bluntly, Mein Patriarch: you are looking at a Spider Horse." The Patriarch looked over the creature as he walked around. It had the body, neck, mane & tail of a horse. It's many legs were that of a spider. The creature's head was a mixture a horse & a spider. The face was more spider then horse but still had elements of both creatures present. "and why did you make this?" "I thought it would be a nice companion creature to our Loborilla." The Patriarch thought of Lobster/Gorilla hybrid that they have been using recently. "And the Arachnequine is completely customizable, Mein Patriarch. We can mix any type of horse with any type of spider you want." "Has the Spider Horse…" "Arachnequine, Mein Patriarch." Mangalur said correcting him. "Has the Spider Horse been tested in a combat situation?" "Yes, Mein Patriarch. That is why I brought it in to show you. You only get to see the best we have produced." "And the Merfrogs were some of the best you've produced?" "Yes, Mein Patriarch. They tested very highly." "I'm sure they did." The Patriarch said as he continued to circle around the creature. "Can you ride it?" "Yes, Mein Patriarch. Being able to ride the Arachniequine was one of the reasons we made it this large." "and I can customize it to any Horse/Spider combo I want?" "Yes, Mein Patriarch. We can even just mix & match certain elements from a horse and or a spider that you like into your Arachnequine." "ok." "ok, Mein Patriarch?" "Yes. I want this put into full production. And I want you bring me all the information you have on the different Horse & Spiders breeds." "Yes, Mein Patriarch." Mangalur said. He gave a salute & then started to usher the men in lab coats & the creature out of the office. Once they had left, The Patriach began to smell something & he noticed the Arachnequine had left something on the floor. He then called for some from Janitorial to come clean it up.

But I doubt you'll ever see a Loborilla riding a Spider Horse. The Loborilla are way too big & would crush the Spider Horse. Quote: I would have named that one "Buttercup".Not sure what Dr. Mangalur named that one. Quote: Fun story! Thanks. It was inspired partly be some of the chatter on the board about changing the theme of the week from Spiders to Ponies & then the thought of spider ponies came up. I thought since I had previously established that E.C.O.L.I. made Loborillas & that they had a R&D department so it's not too far to think they might make Spider Horses also. I added in the Merfrogs references as a way to explain where those came from. If I hadn't explained that they came from E.C.O.L.I. I might of explained that they might of been failed experiments created by Al & he like Dr. Mangalur didn't want to kill them so he released them into the park. The original idea was they they were mutated wildlife (hence the reference of them living by a glow in the park pond i.e. the pond was radioactive) but I think that they were made is a better idea. As for if we'll see the Spider Horses in a future story: I don't know. They might pop up again somewhere. Maybe when I write in a story what else Dr. Mangalur has made.

Quote: Have they tried mixing a Friesian with a bird-eating spider? not that I know of. But they could always try that in the future. Quote: That would be one damn big spider-pony.The possibilities are almost endless.

Quote: The Arachnequine that is - not the story. If you bring up the theme for week is Spiders: I'll do a story involving spiders. If then there is some talk of changing the theme to Ponies: I'll do a story with ponies. If there is some confusion on what the theme is, I'll do a story that involves both Spiders & Ponies. Or because I'm odd I'll merge the two & give you a story about a Spider Horse.
