At long last, after several years of dial-up and a year and a half of Mobile Broadband, I have finally splashed out and gotten a fixed-line broadband account. As a result my internet usage at home is now faster than my connection at work.

Not that this takes much doing...

This means that - with any luck - I will be able to show my face around here a little more often. Probably won't have much time to write things as work is very active at the moment, but we'll see.

As is always the case with my writing, please feel free to comment. I welcome both positive and negative criticism of my work, although I cannot promise to enjoy the negative.

Alas, the broadband package does not include webspace, so the ol' homepage has disappeared.

Fortunately I have a backup, so If there is anything that anyone wants off it I suggest that they let me know. If necessary I can zip the whole lot up and post it somewhere...

I don't have any type of homepage to place it on, but if somebody could store Dancer's excellent "Far And Away" story it would be much appreciated. I recall seeing it at your site but not hers, or at the Homepage of Doom.

...formatted as a Windows compressed folder, since that's what I have.

I've attached it as a bmp file, so's it'll need to be renamed before it is opened...

The Far Away series was a departure from Dancer's usual breezy style, written in full prose and featuring some serious drama.

Details of the cast characters can be found at Who's Who in the Parodyverse

FAR AWAY

Far Away #1 - A strange man wakes in a strange place.
Far Away #2 - Kat meets lavicious hunters and her boyfriend's wife.
Far Away #3 - Miles fails to recognise familiar faces and a clear and present danger.
Far Away #4 - Kat and Sarah share a shower. Some plot stuff happens too, but who cares?
Far Away #5 - Robogirl's in hell. Will Canada and the Runner drag her out?
Far Away #6 - Kat's the prize for the top arena gladiator.
Far Away #7 - It's a bad day to be a Gelbah’Trakh Faction Battle Tank crew.
Far Away #8 - Stewart's bedroom scene with Sarah isn't what he expected.
Far Away #9 - Meanwhile, back on Earth... (with some writing input from the Hooded Hood)
Far Away #10 - Babyface annoys the General. Miles annoys everyone else.
Far Away #11 - Our heroes are guests of the Minster of Torments.
Far Away #12 - People remember things and then things blow up.
Far Away #13 - The big finish for all the marbles.

For some reason all the "reply to" links on all the archived PVB pages I've got on the Hooded Hood's Homepage stopped working again a while back. Any idea why?

On other technical stuff, I get a slight lag on board pages now while my non-java-enabled non-cookie-enabled IE browser spends some time trying to connect to my non-existent Facebook account.

I moved the PVB from the mangacool.com domain to the strike-two.com domain, maintaining forwarding. However, the viewing script is now located in "app/show.php" instead of "php/show.php" - the "php" directory's scripts are being used for something else. I'll have to see if there's some way to fix it that doesn't involve a find/replace for a whole bunch of files.

That's a unique feature of Internet Explorer - it refuses to budge until every little element on the page is loaded to completeness. What you're experiencing is a lot less broken than is usual for IE.

I'm always disappointed when I read one of the stories over on Ian's board and then can't read the replies to it.

killer shrike is happy to get to re-read this epic tale, while simultaneously sad Dancer isn't around to write more of its ilk.
