Sometime very soon, the web site hosting the PVB will be moving to a new server. This should have no impact on the way it operates...theoretically. Of course the reality never quite lines up with the theory.

What to expect: A few hours' downtime at the least while the actual backup/copy/install procedure is in progress. If there's a major problem, it could be as much as a day or two. Additionally, if your ISP's DNS is slow to update, you won't see the new site for a few days anyway.

Why the move: Because the owner of the server can't afford to finance it anymore, and will be giving it up in a few weeks.

The database-based storage system means the move should go more quickly and smoothly than the last (where I had to move thousands of files). Then again, I've never moved a database this large to a new server before, so we'll see.

Also, because of this move I won't have much time for writing stuff in the next few days, and the LAST few days were taken up with fixing PC-related problems. That means I'm going to be very short of things to post for a few weeks.
