"That's some table you've got there," commented Visionary as he was led into the Lair Mansion conference room. The table in the middle of the room was shaped like a giant "L", surrounded by egg shaped chairs.

"Not everyone has their team meetings at the kitchen table," Hallie reminded the possibly fake man as she followed behind with Maggie and Griffin. She was finding things a little hard to take in; everything appeared to be state of the art, but it didn't feel like the state of the art she was used to.

"The Lair Legion is due back from their battle with Peter Von Doom any minute now," Flapjack, the polished gentleman butler, told them. "May I get you a beverage while you wait?"

The group declined, and with a courteous nod the major domo left the room. "I'm not sure which is creepier; this bizarro-Flapjack or the real one," Hallie said.

The kids looked at each other briefly before responding in unison. "The real one."

A new, yet somewhat familiar voice broke in. "Oh, we're all real in our own way."

Standing in the doorway was Hallie, or rather, this reality's version of Hallie. She appeared to be housed in a robot shell, complete with metal skirt and 1960's style big hair.

"Hallie?" asked Visionary.

"That's me! HALLIE! It stands for H-," she began to explain before the digital Hallie cut her off.

"Heuristic Artificial Life Learning Intelligence Entity," she summed up for her doppleganger. It had been a long time since Hallie had thought of the origins of her name.

"Why yes! How did you know?"

"Because she is your alternate reality counterpart from...Earth X," summed up the next person to enter the room.

"That name is taken," pointed out Griffin helpfully. CrazySugarFreakBoy! had insisted he be in charge of the boy's comic book education.

"Twice, actually," chimed in Maggie.

"Oh, well then," Harper sputtered, unused to being corrected. "Earth 2!"

"Taken," said Griffin.

"Earth Prime?"

"Try again."

"Counter-Earth?"

"Fraid not."

"She is a doppleganger from a parallel universe," Harper said. He would come up with a cool name for their universe when the little killjoys weren't around.

"The question is," said the square-jawed hero behind Dr. Harper, "are they friends or foes?"

"Hatty?" checked Visionary.

"Merciful Maple Leaf! He knows my name!" exclaimed Hatman in surprise.

"We know who all of you are!" exclaimed Maggie.

She then named the rest of the Lair Legion membership who had just walked into the room.

To be continued...by you?

I will try my best to get a contribution posted to this story this weekend. It's too fun of an idea to pass up. Loved the egg chairs, and the high tech but odd feel of everything for Hallie. I'm not sure if the next writer will be responsible for outlining the whole line up, or if people should just write a quick paragraph to introduce their idea of each of their characters...

Fun stuff!

It can go either way. I didn't say the entire Lair Legion membership was behind Hatman, just that some of them were. So the next author can choose how many characters they want to introduce.

I hope the fact I used your cast to jumpstart this thing won't handcuff you at all; I just felt we needed some POV characters and Visionary is perfect for that.

Glad you liked it. I'm hoping a round robin might help spark things around here a bit. What'd you think of the Silver Age Hatman design? It's not quite what I wanted, but Hero Machine only has so many options.

If I have to reveal the Silver Age LL lineup I have a feeling everyone will be sorry. \:\)

And no offense, but that Silver Age Hatman costume is kind of...loud...

I was debating saying the table was two interlocking L's, but even for the Silver Age that's stretching it a bit.

As I said to Vizh, the next writer doesn't have to reveal the whole line-up; it could just be a couple of characters that walk into the room.

No offense taken, it was supposed to be.

Magweed broke off her exposition identifying exactly who was on the line-up as the door to the kitchen burst open, revealing a small, pinkish figure in a state of distress. "Eet ees ah cahtastrophe!" he squealed in a bad French accent. "Zee soufflé haz collapsed!"

"Zounds!" said Hatman.

"Egad!" exclaimed Al.

"Brap?!" asked Visionary, blinking in surprise at he sight of the three-foot-tall, talking bipedal pig.

"Er... Oui..." the pig replied, his chef's hat flopping precariously over one eye. "I deed not know we had company. Unfortunately, zhere will be a slight delay in brunch."

"Brap! It's me, Visionary!" the Regular said excitedly. "I've been looking everywhere for you! Where have you been?"

"Er... zhe kitchen?" the pig answered hesitantly, looking over the odd man. "'Ave we met before, monsieur?"

"Yes! In the Moderatorverse! And possibly some other times before... things get kind of hazy when I fall out of reality, you know" Visionary explained. "We were close friends, and you helped save the world and all, and then reality snapped back to normal, only I didn't know you in the normal reality, so I had no idea where to begin looking for you, and I called Dr. Moo and asked if she had created any biogenetically engineered pigs, but she wasn't really cooperative because she's a big evil cow and all, as Asil would say, so I pulled some favors with Quoth and she said she'd alert me if you surfaced, but what with the thing with the Carnifex and all I was overly distracted and lord knows how busy she must have been keeping reality twirling... All of which just goes to say I hope you can understand why it's taken so long to find you!"

"Er... oui" the pig agreed, backing slowly towards the kitchen. "Ah can see how zhat would 'appen." He smiled gamely and nodded in an encouraging, non-threatening manner. "Well, eet haz been wonderful meeting such fine guests, but I really must be getting back to zhe kitchen and my knives. My very, very large kitchen knives." With a gulp, the pig was gone through the doorway.

"That was Brap?" Griffin asked. "He seemed nice."

"Good cook too" Trickshot agreed. "But I do miss getting bacon for breakfast."

Although I did throw out one new name for the actual team in my short continuation...

I'm fine with it... I liked the simple concept of the Lighthouse taking an unscheduled jaunt through reality.

I really like the "H" design to his costume, to the point where I was trying to imagine a way to incorporate it into his modern day look without going straight spandex. No cape though?

Sometimes reality-crossing stories get bogged down by the journey; I'm more interested in the destination.

I really tried to get a cape on there, but with Hero Machine's option I couldn't find one that worked. Also wasn't sure what colour to make it; there is already so much red and yellow I didn't know if those colours would work for the cape. I debated doing a green one (for some incomprehensible reason a red and yellow costume with green cape works for Mr. Miracle) but it looked too random.

Do you have a suggestion for cape colour?

Trickshot is a welcome addition to the Silver Age Lair Legion, and great way to work in Brap. With Flapjack being, well, normal, in this reality, someone was needed to spice up the Mansion staff!

It's a very silver-age way of doing things... just get the cast there in as few panels as possible.

Well, obviously from the banner I like to use the primary colors on Hatty, Red cape, blue jeans and cap and yellow symbols on a white shirt... so that's four colors if you count white. If I were just going to reinvent him with two colors, I might go red and white for the Canadian flag. Three colors could be any of the above. Classically, blue often represented highlights of black, such as Spider-man's costume, or perhaps it would be a baby blue because that ink printed well on cheap paper, such as for Cap's or Superman's uniforms.

How does this one look? It probably captures the traditional Hatman look more, but should be hokey enough for the Silver Age (I hope). I was going to go with a sleevless look (instead of that white stripe down the arm) but to get that H look on the torso I have to use that particular overshirt layer; I still get that homage to the t-shirt look Hatman usually sports though.

I'm not sure if it look like something from the Silver Age or the Legion of Superheroes version of Hatman...though really I guess that could be the same thing. \:\)

I figured I could throw Trickshot in there without messing up anyone else's plans, so why not? And since I've never found an introduction for Brap in regular continuity, I like to drop him into alternate realities whenever possible. There's probably some big epic reason why he never manages to appear in the regular Parodyverse. Maybe he's secretly... The Apostate!

Well, okay, maybe not.

I think it's a good design given the limitations of the hero generator. In fact, about the only thing I'm not sold on are the yellow boots and gloves, but I see why you went that way and off the top of my head I don't have a suggestion that would improve them.

I still think the Golden Age Vision has one of the most pointlessly colorful costumes going. It's amazing to think that the green/yellow/red silver age Vision is actually toned down by comparison.

I'm not wild about the gloves and boots either, but as you say, my choices were a little limited. Ideally I think I would have contained the big H to above the waist and would have included a satchel to hold his hats.

Silver Age Dimension Part 5

Ã¢â‚¬Å“...And Lara Night,”  Magweed concluded her list of the Lair Legion members present in the Lair Mansion conference room.

The entire Silver Age Lair Legion turned to look at a blonde in a black-and-white costume standing at the peak of the “L” shaped table next to Hatman’s usual egg-shaped chair.

Ã¢â‚¬Å“Who?”  Dr. Albert B. Harper asked.  He quickly reached into his white lab coat and put on his round glasses, to see more clearly.

Ã¢â‚¬Å“I’m not supposed to be here, Maggie.”  Lara Night explained.  “I followed Visionary here.  Al B Har-- I mean, the other Al is trying to figure out how to get the lighthouse back where it’s supposed to be.  I just came to tell you not to worry.”

Visionary opened his mouth, at a loss for words at first.  Then the next thought he had was about the kids being stranded in this strange universe.  “Can you get us home?”

Ã¢â‚¬Å“If you want to be homeless,”  the blonde replied.  “Actually I’m kind of worried about bringing children...especially ones infused with fae magic...across dimensions.  I’m not sure what will happen.  But I’ll consider it as a last resort.”

The Regular nodded.  “I’m grateful you’re looking after us, at least,”  he said.  “Especially the kids.  And if it comes down to getting either me or them back--”

Lara stopped him there.  “No, don’t talk like that.  If I have to use every ounce of my energy to bring all of you back, I will.”

All conversation stopped as a man in a yellow overcoat shuffled into the room, fully entranced by the small bowl of jello he was eating.  He stopped and looked up when he noticed the silence.  Then he noticed a man who looked exactly like him.

Ã¢â‚¬Å“Did I miss something?”  the Silver Age Visionary asked.

Ã¢â‚¬Å“That’s right, because he already wears a horribly garish coat...”  Lara whispered to herself.

Ã¢â‚¬Å“Wait, what?”  the modern Visionary said.

The blonde decided to distract from Visionary’s question with one of her own.  “Do you guys sit around in this room all the time or are you waiting for something?”

Ã¢â‚¬Å“We’re waiting for our leader to arrive.”  The Librarian said.  He was the only one who brought a full-sized computer terminal to the conference room, and was typing as he spoke.

Ã¢â‚¬Å“I thought Hatty was the leader.”  Visionary commented.  “Nice costume, by the way.”

Oblivious to Visionary’s less than sincere compliment, Hatman enthusiastically said, “Thanks!  On both counts.  But I’m not the leader.”

The large man called the Viking, who looked like Donar, raised his golden flagon in a toast.  “To our leader!”

The rest of the Silver Age Lair Legion, though they had no flagons, called out the same greeting.  “To our leader!”

Lara Night and Visionary looked toward the door.  A small woman with long bleached white hair, and a purple and white jump suit that sparkled in the light stood in the doorway.  Her eyes were reflective silver, with no irises or pupils.

Ã¢â‚¬Å“I am displeased that Peter Von Doom has escaped.”  the woman said in a very even, quiet voice, with a friendly smile as she spoke.  “However, he will not elude us.  I have located his current position.  We will capture him this time.”

Ã¢â‚¬Å“Who is this?”  the modern Visionary whispered to Lara.

The woman heard him.  She looked directly at Visionary with those strange eyes, and she blinked.  “I’m an android designed to be the leader of the Lair Legion.  I am called...The Leader.”

Ã¢â‚¬Å“And she has many clones.”  Dr. Albert B. Harper explained.  “That way we always have a Leader.”

Ã¢â‚¬Å“Fascinating.”  Lara was sitting down at the table now, leaning her elbow on its surface.  It was difficult to tell if she was being sarcastic.

Ã¢â‚¬Å“I was designed for leadership efficiency,”  the Leader noted.

Ã¢â‚¬Å“She looks a bit like Anna.”  Magweed pointed out.

Ã¢â‚¬Å“Yeah, except I think this is the Silver Age, and they don’t have neural networks,”  Lara explained.  “Hence the new name.  I can’t explain the different appearance, though.”

The Leader turned her attention to Lara.  “Are you a new recruit?  You have a pretty costume.  I would be glad to serve you as Lair Legion Leader, and I hope you enjoy working with us.”

Then she noticed the two Visionarys and her friendly smile disappeared.  “Oh dear.  Something very odd is going on here.”

Ã¢â‚¬Å“You have no idea.”  Magweed agreed.

So neither Dancer, who's in the Legion, nor Brap, who's the Legion's chef, recognized Visionary... and yet there's a man who looks exactly like him and is named Visionary in their mansion as well.

That is a decidedly odd twist. Now someone must come up with the explanation!

I threw that in there because I thought it would be both crazy and funny.

I can come up with two: The modern Visionary had kids with him (and maybe he wasn't wearing the coat since he was at home?), and the Silver Age version never said he was named Visionary - and may not have a name at all.

P.S. I did warn you that if Lara Night showed up, she would be breaking the 4th wall.
