My great-grandmother on the maiden side was Quizish, I think...

Anyway, I figured for fun I'd post a "Last Chance to Guess the New Line-up!" survey. You've had the clues, you've read the set up (You *have* read the set-up, right? The latest Untold Tales down the board, now complete?) Dream has announced the new LL team to the world, if not yet to us readers. Reaction seems to indicate that there were some surprising names on the list, including characters who were not asked about joining.

So now, let's hear your predictions for the following categories...

Absolute Locks: (You can't imagine that these characters will not be on the next team.)

Likely picks: (Not quite as sure about these, but you'd still be surprised if they weren't)

Likely Leaving/not joining: (Current or recent characters from Untold Tales that you have a strong suspicion aren't going to join up with the next LL.)

Surprising Picks: (These choices may be out of left-field, forced on the team by the government or just HH having a laugh. You're not sure at all about these, but call it a hunch or just a fun idea.)

Support Staff: (Which supporting characters will be around, and in what roles?)

Random Line-up thoughts: (The write in portion of the survey.)

Just to help, I'll include a list of recent/semi-regular Untold Tales Characters to refresh people's memories. Let me know if I'm leaving out someone obvious who should be on here, but don't be afraid to pick from people not on this list... I don't really know the final line-up either.

CSFB
Yuki
Hatman
Visionary
Al B. Harper
Dancer
Goldeneyed
Nats
Donar
The Manga Shoggoth
Citizen Z
Silicon Sally
Alcheman
Sir Mumphrey
Icy
spiffy
dull thud
Randy Clement
Vinnie DeSoth
Hamboy
Kerry Shepherdson
Denial
Vespiir
Fashion Accessory
Harlagaz
Anna
Liu Xi
Lara Night
Hallie
Flapjack
Amber
Sgt. MacHarridan
Special Agent Garrick
Asil
Samantha Featherstone
Contessa Natalia Romanza
General Hodgekiss
Tandi
David Bookman

Of course, many of these choices have supporting characters of their own that should be considered as possibilities. Also, the list doesn't include options out of left field... and I left out a few civilian types (Drury and Commissioner Graham, etc) and obviously villains that have appeared recently in Untold Tales as well... but hopefully I remembered everyone who had a role in the fall of the Carnifex on to the latest issue, so that should help get you started.

Sergeant MacHarridan - Security
Joan Henry - Bodyguard of Magweed and Griffin
Flapjack - Major Domo
Hallie - Communications/Ops
Dancer - Press Secretary
Licensing/Business Manager - Action Figure

I put Dancer in the Press person role because I think Action Figure follows Dreams lead a little too blindly; Amber was willing to stand up to him to say what she thought, whereas Dream's mom supports him no matter what he does, and since he is in a leadership position I don't know if that's the best professional relationship.

However, I don't think Action Figure should be bumped from the cast. Put her on the business end of things, I think there are chances for some good humour and also for the character to show she's more than just blonde hair and implants. Her background in show biz could see her with some insights into the business world.

Visionary (seems kind of obvious now)
CSFB
Yuki
Al B. Harper
Goldeneyed
Donar (I hope I'm right about this one)
Citizen Z (even though she doesn't want to doom the team)

    Quote:
Likely picks: (Not quite as sure about these, but you'd still be surprised if they weren't)

The Manga Shoggoth (has been less visible recently, the poster is also more rare, but adds a fun inhuman element and distinctive dialogue)
Alcheman (some doubts, but this is the character of ks's that I'm expecting.)
Silicon Sally (I'm just not sure how we get there yet.)
Hamboy (Teaser images and efforts to get an L character on the team. It's his time.)
Liu Xi (slipped my mind until I saw shrike's answers, even though I somehow remembered to put her on the list of options).

    Quote:
Likely Leaving/not joining: (Current or recent characters from Untold Tales that you have a strong suspicion aren't going to join up with the next LL.)

Hatman (I don't think he's coming back to the line-up soon, bullet in the brain or not. He seems to be digging into the GMY scene for a long subplot)

Dancer (Sadly, with the poster MIA, I think Shep will be sidelined without powers for a while. Hopefully she'll continue to appear as a supporting character, especially with Vizh in charge. In fact, if Amber doesn't come back, she's shown a real knack for handling the General already...)

Nats (I'd like to see him and GE go at it some more, but I think he's being sent back to his cab company for a while.)

Icy (up to his creator to bring him back, apparently)

    Quote:
Surprising Picks: (These choices may be out of left-field, forced on the team by the government or just HH having a laugh. You're not sure at all about these, but call it a hunch or just a fun idea.

I think Randy Clement is going to be around, obviously, but I'm not sure as a team member.

Anvil Man had some strong support from voters before, even though there hasn't been much in the way of in-story hints on that front.

Uuuuukulele because... well, I can dream, right?

David Bookman would certainly be a surprise... I don't think he's on the team, but it seems like L and HH have something planned there...

    Quote:
Support Staff: (Which supporting characters will be around, and in what roles?)

Hallie
Flapjack
Sgt. MacHarridan (all three here remain unchanged)

I really could see Dancer being a fun replacement for Anna and driving the top brass up the wall as the gov. liaison officer... I just don't see how she's not recognized as mild mannered Sarah Shepherdson without her powers, or how a coffee waitress would get the job. I don't know who takes this place if Amber doesn't return.

Gen. Hodgekiss (stays on in Garrick's role as Presidential Advisor overseeing the team. I do expect Garrick to still show up semi-regularly in another role, however... One idea is that when a Senator dies, in some states I believe the governor of the state he represented can name his replacement to finish out his term. "Senator Garrick" has an interesting ring to it with all the political maneuverings going on...)

Random Line-up thoughts: (The write in portion of the survey.)

I'm mostly interested to see if there are some really unexpected choices that HH throws on the team for his own writing amusement... characters that we would never see coming.

I'd also love to see some kind of connection to the team for Samantha, Mumphrey and Asil, I just don't know what it would be.

Hallie, the Detonator Hippos, Flapjack, Joan Henry, and Action Figure will keep their old jobs. I have no clue who might become the team's govt liasion. I think Dancer will become Vizh's personal assistant.

Sir Mumphrey will either take a job teaching at Paradopolis University (so as to keep him connected with the Juniors) or become the new director of SPUD.

Vinnie De Soth should have definitely been on the list of characters since the Carnifex... I've edited the original post to include him.

Good call on Liu Xi as well. Even though she was on the list, I forgot to pick her as one of my "likely" candidates.

I hadn't put it together before, but I think you're right that the MLA is one of the new Juniors that HH teased about before. He'd definitely fit in with that bunch.

I like both options for Mumphrey that you suggest, although the SPUD one seems more his style. I feel like there's still some kind of reconciliation to do with Drury over what happens in Jason's stories and how sympathetic he's normally played. I could see a deeper plotline there where he goes underground for a while like Nick Fury in the MU, leaving room for Mumph to take his place.

Man, the Aryan Ideal would be one hell of a surprise pick!

Interesting thoughts on Dancer and Action Figure. I could stand to see a shake-up there as well, since I think we've done the risque joke of the porn star press secretary pretty well by now. A new position for both of them could be interesting to explore.

I don't really think of Joan Henry as "Legion Staff" myself, so I hope other people don't feel obligated to treat her as such. She was privately hired by Vizh and Hallie to guard their house and kids. Since it's on land (sometimes) that's under Sgt. MacHarridan's jurisdiction, she's got to coordinate with him, but that's as far as the link needs to go. She doesn't need to be included in any Legion business.

If I were to make an effort to stack the Legion staff with my own favorite cast people, I'd create the Legion Counselor job and put Ms. Pfeffercorn in it. My ego thankfully isn't there yet.

While CSFB! would never pick Braun for the team, the government, under legal pressure from the Pogroms (who include the US government and the Legion in it's suit), could force him onto the team as part of an out-of-court settlement (Braun's angle would most likely be some kind of revenge plot, but talk about keeping your enemies closer!)

I almost typed that Action Figure could be the team morale officer, but for obvious reasons went a different route.

Tomatoe, tomato. She's on the island and works with MacHarridan, close enough. \:\)

I've campaigned before for an openly antagonizing member on the Lair Legion... I like having someone around who doesn't even have to pretend to be nice and can just tear into the rest of the cast and just be mean.

We did have Beth Zemo, which was fun, but even then she couldn't be openly nasty... not that she hid it all that well in hindsight.

Well, her resume for that position is quite impressive. I hear she's impressive in many positions.

On the plus side, he seems to be willing to fulfill the position for free.

Not including the above: Vinnie De Soth, Hallie, Hatman, Alcheman, Goldeneyed, possibly Liu Xi, but maybe not if she doesn't un-disappear soon

Fashion Accessory (she's more powerful than she knows), Samantha Featherstone (maybe she'll get the pocket watch), and never say never about Lara Night being convinced even though she says she doesn't want to.

Vespiir - resident psychic, Lara Night - "reserve force", Flapjack - the usual, Sgt. McHarridan - security, Tandi - entertainment, Anna - always helpful.
