Here's hoping you feel better soon... The flu isn't fun any time, and is downright spooky when the media can't stop with the swine flu stories...

As for my request, it's based on the fact that the discussion thread following Ian's latest story is completely unreadable to me on the iPhone. I actually do a fair amount of my casual browsing on my phone these days, and ever since you switched to an automatically loading version of the board for mobile devices, Ive been visiting the board less often than I used to.

Having to open each subject in order to see any of the replies simply doesn't jive with the way we traditionally communicate on here. It's a waste of time to load a page and scroll through a long body of story just to see a no-text reply that has been added. Plus, arranging replies by posting time completely garbles the flow of back and forth comments in the subject lines.

I would much prefer to see the same view on my phone as I get when I visit with my desktop. In the meantime, I'm simply not going to be checking the board as often.

It wasn't really *that* bad. Just annoying.

Check your Profile > Settings page here - I added an option called "Don't auto-detect portable device" that turns off the auto-portable thing. I added that as a stop-gap measure until the rest could be finished. That setting is cookie-based, so it should work even if you aren't logged in (though if you are, it'll work the same everywhere).

Eventually I'll make it so clicking the colored dot next to a thread in portable format will make it expand into a full sized thread like on the normal format, I just kept having things come up before I could finish that part. \:\)

P.S. On the iPhone, clicking your logged-in name on the index page, and then Settings gets you to the settings page, or just Settings if you're not logged in.

I clicked the "Don't auto-detect portable device" box on my settings and saved it, which allows me to view the front page just as I do on my desktop, which is good.

However, trying to open this thread (or any other ones) just led to an empty PV post... I had the purple "mangacool" line across the header, and a "tales of the parodyverse >> View Thread" title next to "Hello Visionary Log Out Messages Notifications" and the "New, Sticky, Lock, Favorite, Print, RSS" options below it, however there is no post to read there.... just the bottom bar and the copyright notice.

It's like this for all the PV threads I try to open on my phone... Nothing in them to read.

The spooky visual you saw of an empty post is what happens when the Show script gets two conflicting formatting rules. It displays nothing. \:\)

I fixed the issue that was making the formatting rules conflict.
