There are now two kinds of Reply: There's one button for "Reply" that gives you a blank reply form, and another for "Quote" that quotes the previous post.

This is a beta test of a feature that will be introduced at Comicboards, where many of the posters believe that forcing quotes in every reply is obnoxious.

I'm also currently working on a clickable link that will (hopefully, if I can overcome technical hurdles) ) allow you to quote directly from the frame at the bottom of a reply post.

As is always the case with my writing, please feel free to comment. I welcome both positive and negative criticism of my work, although I cannot promise to enjoy the negative.

Okay, let's try this.

Seems okay so far.

Sounds complicated.

Two things to tweak:

1. The font beside the poster's avatar which contains the original comment needs to be increased in size so as to be readable.

2. It's very easy to confuse the Comment and Subject lines (as I did replying to a couple of posts today). Because comment appears before Subject it's intuitive to make one-line replies there. I'd shift Subject to be the first line not the last. That way people are typing in things in the order they'll eventually be displayed, Subject Line, Poster Name, any additional comment, then the text of the reply.

I think I made it small originally so it would fit, with all the information that could possibly be there. Check my post to see what I mean.

I tried to mitigate that a bit by making the Subject a different level of indentation on the new form, so it gives a different visual cue.
