Ice Troll
By
Jack L Bryson.
Icy was busy making an igloo. He stood on the immense front law of the Lair Legion mansion. Two feet of snow covered the front lawn. Icy reached down and grabbed two huge handfuls of snow. Then he shaped the snow into a brick and breathed on it. His breath turned the brick into ice. He repeated the process of making ice bricks and stacked them on top of each other.
Glory jumped up and down and barked excitedly at the process. She wanted to be the first one to enter the igloo. Icy was making the igloo for the children of the Lair Legion. They were now outgrowing this sort of thing, so he sighed, knowing that his ice slides, sculptures and igloos would outlive their usefulness.
“Hey are you building an igloo?†CSFB asked.
“Yes, yes I am,†Icy replied.
“That’s awesome. Can I be the first one in?â€Â
“Well, that right is reserved for Glory, but you can try it out after her.â€Â
“Right on.†CSFB left, making his way up the front walk and into the mansion.
After a couple of hours, Icy finished positioning the last bricks, making a perfect dome with an ice awning entrance. Glory looked up at Icy, pleading.
“Go on, try it out,†Icy said. Glory raced inside the igloo, barking estatically. Icy smiled at the super dog’s enthusiasm. Then, Icy heard a yelp of pain.
“Glory?†Icy called out. “Glory are you in there? Icy bent down and looked inside the igloo. A wooden staff was pushed into Icy’s face, and Icy backed up. A creature emerged from the igloo. Icy didn’t know what the creature was, but he was pale blue, wore rags and had a long monstrous face for lack of a better adjective.
“What are you; how did you get into my igloo?â€Â
“I opened a portal to ensare a child, but I got a dog instead.â€Â
“You did what !?â€Â
“Let me explain. I’m an Ice Troll and I need a child for a sacrifice to replenish my magic. Why don’t you bring me one snowman?â€Â
“I’m not going to do a goddamn thing like that. Where’s Glory?â€Â
“Oh she’s safe. I tell you what, bring me a child and I’ll give you the dog back. I sense she’s of great importance to you and this place.
“I would never do such a thing, and Glory would rather die than see that happen.†Icy prepared to freeze the troll where he stood, long enough to get the help of Hatman or CSFB.
“If you don’t bring me back a child, you’ll never see the dog again.†The Ice troll disappeared into the igloo. Icy tried to blast the troll when he noticed the troll begin to move into the igloo, but the troll was too quick. Assessing the situation, Icy ran into the mansion and sought out a hero’s help.
