I'm told this is from a concept album and book by the band Dionysos titled La Mécanique de Mon Coeur, telling the story of a boy born in Edinburgh on the coldest night in the world back in 1874. His heart is born frozen, but the midwife at his birth knows witchcraft and switches it out with a clock. He can then live a normal life, but he must be careful to never fall into love or into a rage. Naturally, he grows up and finds a beautiful street singer...

It's suggested that this somehow has to do with Jack the Ripper as well.

In any event, some wonderful imagery and I'm a sucker for clockwork beings in doomed love.
