I just got the Fables trades I bought on e-bay yesterday. I picked up Volumes 1-7, which after shipping only set me back about a hundred books. I've read the first issue or two before, and that combined with all the good things I heard spurred me to purchase a whole bunch in one punch. The strength of the Canadian dollar didn't hurt either.

I stayed up until 1:30 last night reading, and I'm about halfway through the 4th trade. Wow, am I enjoying this book!

Visionary would have never thought that Snow White would be one of his favorite comic book characters.

You know, I've been hearing that you poor Canadians are getting somewhat screwed, in that your dollar is worth more than ours currently, and yet things are still priced as if it was only worth about 80% of ours.

It's the only comic I still follow (through the trades now). At first my fear was that it was only going to be an excuse to do the usual sniggering little jokes at the expense of childhood icons, but you quickly see the depth that Willingham has invested into his versions of these characters.

And really, it's like the best cross-over series ever. Where else are you going to see Snow White vs. Shere Khan?

Yeah, prices aren't being changed to reflect the strength of our currency. Considering the strength of the dollar for quite a while now prices should have changed. Books in particular are still marked way higher (a $24.99 trade still has a Canadian price of $40). Fortunately my comic store goes by the American price plus I think %10 (for things like shipping).

I was impressed right out of the gate how he gave such depth to the characters, especially the nuances he gave them that make total sense.

I was quite pumped to see Baghera and Shere Khan show up, even if they were hunting Snow.
