Subject: GAH! Help needed. Posted Wed Sep 12, 2007 at 10:15:40 pm EDT (Viewed 316 times) |

OK, I'm struggling to write that story I mentioned a while back. I have a few ideas that I'd like to free from my flu-riddled brain, but I'm SO out of the loop on P-verse continuity I'm feeling a little Jurgensy about just slapping a cast together.
For example...is the Lair Mansion still around? Who lives there? Where does Xander choose to operate from? Why can I smell burning hair?
I've decided to make this a stand alone plot seperate from UT's and tie ins 'cause there's just too much homework involved and time's not on my side at the moment. However, I don't want to have a dead character suddenly drop in for coffee, either.
Help?

Okay. Not sure I totally understand the meaning of "Jurgensy", but so long as it's not contagious I can try and help.

Yes indeed. Maybe in need of a few repairs after the last Untold Tales, but it was still standing and in use, so it's really no worse than any time Gromm the Living Flatulence explosively combusted there during an attack.
Hmmmm... This might be tougher. Actually *lives* there?
Hallie and Flapjack are safe bets.
Mumphrey and his grand-daughter Samantha were as of the last Untold Tales, but the epilog to come might change that (Things are kind of in a transition phase, I think).
Hatman seems to room there, and CSFB! has a room with his wife April, and the rest of his family is often there as well.
Dancer lives above the Bean and Donut Coffee shop that she works at, but is around the Mansion enough to almost live there.
Most of Jason's characters are around (Liu Xi, Yuki, Lara) although I'm not sure who officially lives there.
Mr. Epitome and Glory have a room there, I think, although they're building a cabin for him and his girlfriend, Katarina to live in.
Al B. Harper has a cabin of his own, but he's almost always in either the Lair's labs or the labs at Extraordinary Endeavor Enterprises.
The Librarian lives on the moon, but might have a room at the mansion too.
Lisa's gone cosmic now, so she lives wherever the Destroyer of Tales calls home.
ManMan has come back to the team, but I'm not sure where he stays. I may be forgetting some...
Vizh now lives in a lighthouse just down the beach from Lair Mansion. Usually staying there are his kids Maggie and Griffin, his ward Kerry Shepherdson, and often his alien former sex-slave mother of his children Miiri. And Hallie's pretty much wired into that building as well.
> Where does Xander choose to operate from?
|
Well, as of the last Untold Tales, Xander had disappeared from the Parodyverse. However, if you're not looking to tie into current continuity too closely you can probably ignore that. He regularly operates out of a plumbing and clock repair shop downtown, as I recall.

They say a stroke can set off all sorts of unusual senses.

The dead make fine guests for coffee. They usually take it black.

Jurgensy: Adj (JUR-gens-ee) To act in a Jurgens-like manner and write a flawed story with inept characterisation and no respect or acknowledgement of previous continuity. See also "Making shit up."

This is gold, Adam. Thank you!

Ok, I'm gonna need a mystical go-to guy...maybe Mumph and the Shoggoth will do for now.

According to Ian, there's something big coming next chapter in regards to the fate of the Shoggoth. He says the best mystical go-to-guy (er... gal) would be either Sorceress or her crone of a grandmother Hagatha Darkness. Personally, I'd go with Hagatha. Grumpy old mystic women are comedy gold... Although if I have to spend any time with the mystical go-to-guy, then definitely go with Sorcy please.

That marijuana comment is in reference to the Simpsons episode where the cops burn a big pile of pot, which the townspeople greedily inhale.
"That smells a little too inviting. Throw on the barber hair Lou."
That's a really bad paraphrase of the actual quote. If you've seen the episode you know what I'm talking about.

Heh. I got the reference, Hatty.
And yes, they did actually set fire to their carhole...they decided to drop ash from their wood fire outside on some wet leaves, eventually igniting the dry leaves beneath. We went and told them that a) our place was being swamped in white smoke and b) to kindly keep the arson to a minimum so we don't have to put the fire brigade on speed dial.
