...Untold Tales will have to remain on Page 2 for now. I replied to it already though.

I guess if you're posting about this it means Ian is angry again and won't come back till he gets more UT replies?

I guess I can sympathize considering I was going to post World Class (I have a PV storyline but since it takes place after the Parody War I was going to wait till Ian's next post first - now I'm not sure when to post it) but given the very low turnout this weekend and the fact that not everyone likes that storyline?  I'm not entirely sure I can take watching it sit there all week with just one reply.  :)

No, because the weight of the cannonball is already sitting on the surface of the water before it's dropped.

I watch Mythbusters, dammit.

I have no idea, as I haven't heard from him.  Rather, I can simply look down the board myself and see that we're down to 6-7 replies max per story, and we can do better.

I understand and sympathize, but I'll happily read it when it appears.

The Smart Reply feature uses the Rich Text form if the original post was Rich Text and the standard form (unless you select Rich Text by default) for non Rich Text posts.

It was done not to be cool (thought it is!) but to solve the problem where complicated Rich Text posts can become virtually unreadable in Plain Text with all the "div", "span" etc formatting tags.

If you have a saved profile you can change that now by turning off the Rich Text editor.  If you don't have a profile stay tuned, I'm going to make a cookie-accessible preference for that soon.

I see.

Sundays are sometimes better.  I might post late tonight and see what happens.

Okay, the situation involved a man in a boat floating in a pool, and he drops a cannonball over the side into the water. The question was whether the water level of the pool would change as a result.

The answer is: Yes, the water level should get lower.

While supported by the boat, the cannonball is displacing an amount of water equal to its mass. However, once sunk into the water, it is only displacing an amount of water equal to its volume

Since this isn't a trick question, we can safely assume that the cannonball is made of something significantly more dense than water... hence less water is displaced once it is sunk, and the water levels of the pool go down.

My first reaction upon hearing this question was the same as the rest of the people here, in thinking it didn't change.
