While I am inclined to weigh in on Ms Simone's side, I have to admit that I am only seeing one quarter of the story here, and that is an implied reason for the firing rather than clearly stated, and that from the person being fired.

Still, I have seen too may managers that are either working to a mantra despite what is happening around them (if they even notice) or simply being plain pig ignorant to give them too much of the benefit of the doubt.

There are good managers in the world. They just seem to be few and far between...
