Lara likes her own power too. The difference is that she's acutely aware of the consequences - the more she uses it, the more attention it gains, and pretty soon either the villains' A-list will be planning how to destroy her, or the heroes will become afraid or suspicious and do the same. So she uses it very, very conservatively.

The Psychic Samurai would agree with that approach - never show your enemies what you're capable of up front, or they will learn to defeat you more quickly.
